I’m sitting at 48th and Lexington. At 2:30 today, I have a meeting with my clients, whom I have worked with for over two years, and have yet to meet. I could call UBER, and be there in 20 minutes, but that would take all of the fun out of it, wouldn’t it?
I’ve spent the better part of my teen years watching Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Loretta Young, among other of my teen idols, navigating their way across the Big Apple, and more recently, MadMen. So why not me? Now?
The spot where we are meeting is the actual restaurant that I wrote the business plan for two years ago. When I first started the job, this restaurant didn’t even exist. With my words, I helped raise the funding that got the doors open. Two years later, it’s still open, and thriving. I can hardly wait to visit the spot; and meet the two men I’ve been working with, blindly, for over two years.
Before I left, a friend, a native New Yorker, who now lives in the Midwest told me, about getting there via Subway, “It’s going to be hard, and yes, you’re going to be nervous… but once you do it, you will feel so great.”
So, what better way to spend a Monday?
